Beyond the Office
A long-standing tradition of service.
Professional responsibility extends beyond active legal matters.
That commitment takes many forms: mentoring young people, strengthening local institutions, supporting the arts and athletics, and sharing professional experience with organizations across Michigan.
Jim Austin has served on the State YMCA of Michigan board, including as secretary, and later worked in development and alumni relations for Hayo-Went-Ha Camps. He has also supported youth programs such as Racquet Up Detroit and Camp 4 All through his board leadership with Experiential Ink.
His community service also includes seven years as president of the Alden District Library, leadership with the Thayer Lake Property Owners Association, and volunteer work with the Michigan Towing Association. The organizations shown here reflect the firm’s broader connections to education, service, culture, and community life.
Mike Corcoran’s service includes the Grand Traverse Bar Association Board of Governors, leadership as a former president of the Charlevoix-Emmet Bar Association, and past board service with the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan and the Charlevoix-Emmet ISD Board of Education.
His lifelong interest in music connects him to Michigan State University’s bands and jazz ensembles and to the NMC jazz ensembles, where he plays second trombone. Mike and the firm also support Mercer’s trial competition program, the Animal and Natural Resource Law Review, and the Charlevoix Venetian Festival.
